Sabbath is for Families
Devotional for Sunday, July 22 2018 - « Previous
This devotional is brought to you by Pacific Press® Publishing Association.

Besides all its deep theological meaning, or even its experiential heavenly pleasures, the Sabbath serves one nitty-gritty earthly function: it gives the family time to be together, and in today's hectic, fast-paced society, that benefit alone makes the day precious.

Now more than ever, as the family faces pressures that leave millions of homes tattered, disheveled, and vulnerable, we need every possible protection, and the Sabbath is one of the best because it comes to man from heaven via the Garden of Eden. If God thought that man in Paradise, even before sin, needed the Sabbath, how much more do we need it today?
